Shazam! Fury of the Gods - Review (2023)

The Good
The Family Aspect still works

Zachary Levi and Asher Angel as Billy Batson / Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody as Frederick "Freddy" Freeman (1 of the films big highlights), Rachel Zegler as Anthea (Another Hightlight), Ross Butler and Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Meagan Good and Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, D. J. Cotrona and Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña are all pretty great and chemistry still works.

The Mixed
While i like Zach Levi as Shazam he acts too much like a child while normal Billy acts more mature it takes away from the character.

The Bad
David F. Sandberg's Direction is very off this time around losing the focus as a whole family movie and becoming a generic superhero movie.

Henry Gayden and Chris Morgaa's script is all over the place.

Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Helen Mirren as Hespera are generous 2000's Villains.

Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans are reduced to nothing really.

Djimon Hounsou as Shazam is just there.

The 3rd Act is generic and conisist of terrible CGI creatures.

The CGI in general is terrible.

The bad product placement.

The Action is not very good.

The Gal Gadot as Wonder Women seen was forced and showing it in the commercials is very desperate from Warner Brothers.

The Post Credit Scenes will lead to no where so I didn't care.

Final Thoughts: Shazam! Fury of the Gods is just ok to meh honestly, if your a fan of Superhero Movies and DC your still go out and see this unless its a really bad film like Morbius, but honestly save your money for John Wick Chapter 4.

Alzo this film isn't tracking well so we are probably never getting a 3rd Shazam film but may keep Levi maybe.

Overall Grade: C-

I just got back home from seeing the film and I wholeheartedly disagree with your review.  Although, I do agree it is not quite as good as the first.

Here are my impressions/thoughts on the film:

  • I personally felt the acting was excellent.  I thought all the actors and actresses played their parts very well.
  • The action I thought was solid.
  • The special effects, CGI, and visuals I thought were good, but, not quite as good as the ones from the first film.
  • While I felt Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu were great as the villains, I actually slightly lean towards Mark Strong's Dr. Sivana from the first film as a more compelling villain
  • I really liked the Michael Gray cameo
  • The direction from David F. Sandberg I felt was very good.
  • The score by Christopher Beck I believed was top notch.
  • I liked the fact that this movie also emphasized the importance of family like the first one did.
  • Wonder Woman's appearance in this movie despite being spoiled like hell by WB I actually liked quite frankly.
  • The two credit scenes I really enjoyed especially the first in which Billy gets recruited to join the JSA.

Grade: A

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - Review (2023)

The Good
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley's Direction with their script with Michael Gilio make for a fun film.

The Cast is great from Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Hugh Grant are all great and giving strong performances mainly Chris Pine.

The Humor is really top notch.

The emotional core of the movie works with Pine's character trying to get his daughter back.

The Hiest Sequence is really fun.

Lorne Balfe's Score

The Bad
The Visuals aren't the best.

The main villain is pretty generic.

Final Thoughts: I'm very happy to be alive to finally see a great live action Dungeons & Dragons movie, sadly it probably won't do well to get a sequel.

Overall Grade: A-

John Wick: Chapter 4 - Review (2023)

The Good
Keanu Reeves once again just owns as the character he just puts so little words, but shows how angry and badass he is in his killing spree.

Chad Stahelski's Direction just gets better with each film.

Shay Hatten and Michael Finch's Script

The World Building.

The Introduction of new and Interesting characters like Donnie Yen's Caine a blind assassin of the High Table, Shamier Anderson as Mr. Nobody who is very interesting for his own film, Scott Adkins as Killa the head of the German Table,Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu Koji the manager of the Osaka Continental. Rina Sawayama as Akira, Clancy Brown as Harbinger, Mr. No Body's Dog, Bill Skarsgård as Marquis Vincent de Gramont as powerful member of the high table.

Returning characters like Laurence Fishburne as th Bowerly King, Ian McShane as Winston, Lance Reddick as Charon are back and still good.

The Action Sequences my god are amazing, the whole Sequence in Osaka, the sequence in the night club, the insane sequence in Paris with Cars, the Top Down View Sequence the Stair Sequence.

Dan Laustsen's beautiful Cinematography.

The Bad
Nothing

Final Thoughts: John Wick: Chapter 4 is phenomenal as one of the best action films of all time these movies just don't miss and yhe oscars really should make a category for Stunt Choreography.

Overall Grade: A+
