the Forever Evil story.

That seems like a cool event to read.

Lego DC Super Villains - Review

The Positives:

  • The graphics, visuals, character designs, and character models are amazing.
  • The game's story is fantastic.  As I was progressing throughout the game, I could tell it was an adaptation (an excellent adaptation) of the Forever Evil story arc from 2013.  For those who do not know, Forever Evil was a major event in the DC Universe back in 2013, where the Crime Syndicate, an evil version of the Justice League from a parallel Earth, defeat the Justice League and attempts to take over the Earth.
  • The voice acting is tremendous.  The voice cast features Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as the Joker, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, Raven, and Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Fred Tatasciore as Clayface, Solomon Grundy, and Black Adam, Brandon Routh as Captain Marvel (Billy Batson), Cree Summer as Mercy Graves and Livewire, Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor, Grey Griffin as Catwoman, James Arnold Taylor as Green Arrow, Jennifer Hale as Killer Frost, Josh Keaton as Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Michael Rosenbaum as the Flash (Barry Allen), Michael Dorn as Kalibak, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, Nolan North as Bizarro and Ultraman, Steve Blum as Captain Cold, Roger Craig Smith as B'Dg, Orion, Skeets, and Mister Miracle, and Michael Ironside and Darkseid.
  • The gameplay is fantastic.  The majority of the gameplay is very similar to previous Lego video games.  As far as I am concerned that is a good thing.
  • Much like Lego Batman 2 & 3, the game is open world.

The Negatives:

  • While the gameplay is fantastic, I had major problems with the driving controls.  IMO, the driving controls suck.

Overview: Lego DC Super Villains is an amazing game.  It is so far the best Lego video game I ever played.

Grade A+

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions - Review

The Positives:

  • The story is fun and very entertaining.
  • Aside from Marvel's Spider-Man, I have to say that this game has the best graphics, character designs, and character designs that I've seen in any Spider-Man game.
  • The gameplay is excellent especially the combat.  The combat in the game is IMO awesome.
  • You get to actually play as four different variations of one of the most beloved, enduring, and iconic superheroes of all time.  Prior to the release of this game, this has never happened.  Usually in superhero games, they use their alternate variations as like an alternate skin or costume.
  • The voice acting is top notch.  You have Stan Lee as the narrator, Jennifer Hale providing the voice of Silver Sable, Jim Cummings providing the voices of Kraven the Hunter and Green Goblin Noir, Steve Blum providing the voices of Hobgoblin 2099 and Vulture Noir, Nolan North providing the voice of Ultimate Deadpool, & Tara Strong providing the voice of Doctor Octopus 2099.  However, the stars of the game are Neil Patrick Harris providing the voice of Amazing Spider-Man, Christopher Daniel Barnes providing the voice of Spider-Man Noir, Dan Gilvezan providing the voice of Spider-Man 2099, and Josh Keaton providing the voice of Ultimate Spider-Man.  Hearing their voices was so nostalgic for me because all four of these men have voiced Spider-Man in the past.  Neil Patrick Harris voiced Spider-Man in the 2003 series, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.  Christopher Daniel Barnes voiced Spider-Man in the 1994 Spider-Man animated series.  Dan Gilvezan voiced Spider-Man in the 1981 cartoon, Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends.  Josh Keaton voiced Spider-Man in the 2008 series, The Spectacular Spider-Man.  All four of these men do an excellent job voicing their respective Spider-Man.

The Negatives:

  • While it is well polished, the game does have a good amount of game bugs and glitches.

Overall: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is among the best Spider-Man games out there IMO and it is my second favorite Spider-Man game of all time behind Spider-Man 2.

Grade: A+

Batman: Arkham Origins - Review

The Positives:

  • Despite a certain plot twist that I felt was an asspull, I thought the story was solid & entertaining, especially the premise.  The premise of the story is that 8 assassins are hired to kill Batman on Christmas Eve.
  • The graphics, character models, character designs, and animations are phenomenal.
  • The voice acting is top notch.  You have Kelly Hu providing the voice of Lady Shiva, Brian Bloom providing the voice of Black Mask, Grey Griffin providing the voice of Vicki Vale, JB Blanc providing the voice of Bane, and Troy Baker providing the voice of the Joker.  However, the star of the game was Roger Craig Smith providing the voice of Batman.
  • The gameplay is fantastic.  The combat, stealth, and the usage of the gadgets and equipment made me fell that I was Batman while playing this game.
  • Much like Arkham City, the game is open world.
  • The game has a wide variety of side content from Glide Challenges to Casefiles/CSI missions, and to Most Wanted Missions.
  • Just like in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, the more damage Batman takes, the more his suit gets torn up.
  • Even though he is only available in Challenge Mode, you get to play as Deathstroke the Terminator.

The Negatives:

  • The game has more bugs and glitches than Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
  • While I enjoyed the story, I hated the plot twist.  IMO, it was such an asspull.  You were led to believe that it was Black Mask who hired the assassins to kill Batman.  However, as you progress though the story, it turns out that the "Black Mask" who hired the assassins was the Joker in disguise.  I'm sorry, but, the Joker had no business being the main villain again.

Overview: While not as good as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Arkham Origins is still nonetheless a very good entry in the Batman: Arkham series.

Grade: B+

  • Like always, the humor & comedy in Lego games is hysterical.

A couple of questions.

  • Why do you think it is not as fun/good as first one & Lego DC Super Villains?
  • How is the replay value ?
  • Does this game have local coop and or online coop?
  • Can you give a rough estimate on how many characters are available?
  • Can you free roam after you beat missions?

Replay value is good.

Forgot to mention that the game is open world in my positives section.

TBH, I just had more fun with the first one and with Lego DC Super Villains.

There are nearly 250 characters available.

Yes, you can free roam after you beat missions.

I don't know much about the game, but which characters did you use?

Spider-Man: The Movie Game - Review

The Positives:

  • The game's intro still rocks hardcore to this day.
  • The graphics, character designs, character models, and animations are top notch.  As a matter of fact, I'd say they're better than the ones in Spider-Man 2.
  • People had issues with the voice acting.  I for one, did not.  IMO, the voice acting was excellent.  You have Josh Keaton providing the voice of Harry Osborn &  Dwight Schultz providing the voice of Vulture.  However, the stars of the game are Tobey Maguire providing the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man & Willem Dafoe providing the voice of Norman Osborn/Green Goblin.
  • The gameplay is very good.  It is in some ways an updated form of the gameplay from the Neversoft Spider-Man games from 2000 & 2001.
  • Other than Green Goblin, the game includes other classic Spider-Man villains such as Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion & Kraven the Hunter (Xbox Exclusive).
  • The game's story does a solid job in following the movie.
  • Once you beat the game on Normal difficulty, you get to replay the game with the Alex Ross prototype suit.
  • If you beat the game on Hard or Super Hero difficulty, you get to replay the game as Harry Osborn/Green Goblin.

The Negatives/Nitpicks:

  • The web-swinging felt weird.  It felt odd seeing Spider-Man's web lines go up to the stratosphere instead of attaching themselves to buildings.
  • It made no sense for the developers to give Spider-Man a web meter.  In the Raimiverse, Spider-Man has organic webbing generation.
  • I don't like the fact that Kraven the Hunter was an Xbox Exclusive boss character.
  • I absolutely hated the stealth in this game.  IMO, it was trash.
  • The camera system isn't that great.

Overview: Spider-Man the movie game is a fun Spider-Man game & movie tie-in game.  IMO, it is a classic.

Interesting. Does Green Goblin play differently from Spiderman? Such as have different attached and traverse the city differently or is it just a Green Goblin skin on Spiderman?

I agree with the resentment against characters being exclusive on certain platforms.

How was the combat on the game? I know it probably is not at the level of the Spider-Man game released on the PS4.

Combat was good.  Just an updated version of the Neversoft Spider-Man games.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to a very special video game review.

Folks, I give you:

Shank (2010)- Review

The Positives:

  • The graphics, character designs, and character designs are phenomenal.
  • The game's story, especially it's main campaign is fantastic.  IMO, the story is the best part of the game.
  • The game's voice acting is excellent.
  • The gameplay is very good and fun as well.

The Negatives:

  • None.

Overview: Shank is one of the best games not only from 2010, but out there as well.

Hello ladies, gentlemen, and true believers,

Sorry for the long delay, but, I was busy with some stuff.

Anyways, on to the review.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2- Review

The Positives:

  • The story is very good.  I like how the game adapts both the Secret War and Civil War stories.
  • The graphics, character designs. and character models are very good.
  • The voice acting is top notch.
  • The gameplay is fantastic.  My favorite part of the gameplay was the fusions in which two characters combine their abilities to perform a very powerful attack.
  • The cast of playable characters are very good.
  • The soundtrack is great.
  • The simulations missions are fun to do.

The Negatives:

  • The game is a bit more buggy and glitchy than the first one.
  • The alternate costumes are hit and miss.  I also don't like the fact that each character, minus Nick Fury, only has 1 alternate costume.
  • The selection of playable characters become limited once you reach the Civil War event.

Overview: While not quite as good as the first game,. Marvel Ultimate Alliance2 is still a great game to play.

Grade: A

Man, I forgot there was a secret wars plotline in this game. I should probably go through it again to see it.
