Nintendo Switch Thoughts & Discussion

Since the Switch is getting fully shown off tonight, I decided to close the old thread and start with a new one. Once the live stream is over, I'll create a poll to see what everyone's opinions are.

Here's a link to where you can find the stream (and links to other places if you choose to watch from there): http://www.nintendo.com/switch/

So my overall thoughts on the presentation. Quite a lot of games shown off that I was not expecting to see, but my concern is that we only have two launch games confirmed so far: 1 2 Switch (it's just like what Wii Sports was on the Wii) and Zelda: Breath of the Wild (it has to be contending for GOTY at this point).

On the Switch itself, I like the ideas that it has going for it. I'll definitely try out the Rumble HD features of the JoyCon controllers with my brother when we get the Switch (which comes out 2 days after my birthday, best present ever! :D ). Now the Treehouse Event is supposed to start at 9:30 ET, so I'm actually going to wait for that event to finish before making the poll since it's clear there's not enough information given gamewise.

The only real negative thing about the entire presentation is that the translators were just awful. It's supposed to be an exciting time, try to show some excitement when speaking, even if the people talking on stage are not exciting.

im speechless at the Mario game, idk if i should be hyped or worried. im so confused, what did i just watch/see.

Just like every open world game, you just saw a game that will be padded with going back to the same areas countless times just to get one more item or collectible that you need to progress. It'll take 50 hours to beat a Mario game with 8 hours of actual content in it.

I'll say it again. You hate Nintendo. Your shitting on a game the second it's announced? Based on things you THINK will be flaws? How can you still claim to be a rational skeptic?

But I will say 1 2 Switch is the worst thing Nintendo ever conceived. A game where you don't look at the screen? Then that's not a video game? You're literally telling people to point at eachother and calling it a game.

Oh and Skyrim getting confirmed is a huge win. That's proof that the Switch is powerful enough to play AAA open world games.

I really doubt that for anyone who only buys Nintendo games that they would even care about skyrim tbh, and for anyone who does care about skyrim they probably have a Pc, PS4 or Xbone so why buy it for the switch?

let me know if im misinformed or wrong about it.

Yet you are excited about Yooka-Laylee.

Shoutout to Donnie (aka ssf1991) for creating a list of all of the announced games for the Switch so far. I'm expecting this will get updated after the Treehouse event in the morning, but this is still a lot to be excited for so far.

Pre-ordered a Switch just for Zelda, and pre-ordered the Breath of the Wild Master Edition. That game looks so freakin good!

I'm pretty excited for Fire Emblem Warriors too if it turns out anywhere near as good as Hyrule Warriors was. Aside from that I probably won't be playing much on this system aside Zelda, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Dragon Quest Heroes Bundle this year but I'm okay with that. I really enjoyed the Wii U and I'm sure I'll get my money out of this system too.

only excited for Zelda and i can get that for cheaper on the Wii U lol

it really doesn't matter its like Twilight Princess when it was on Gamecube and Wii and the GC version was better

sorry that I don't wanna pay for $300 for a console just for Zelda if i can get it on a cheaper hopefully Wii U with probably a better battery life than the Switch lol

plus the Mario in New York gives me BAD MEMORIES OF THAT SHITTY MOVIE.

What you saw was pure awesomeness.  Nintendo always delivers with their Mario and Zelda games.

Nintendo never had a game as epic and big as Skyrim this generation. This is huge news towards Nintendo capturing that audience they missed out on and catching up with next gen. Say what you want about it performing less or the game being old. The fact that it runs a game like that (The remaster I believe) in the first place is a huge step forward.

And yes. The Mario game looked fucking amazing.

Well, thanks to my mom for preordering both my graduation and birthday gift lol. I got the $510 bundle at gamestop since their shipping was the best and I get 5 games (3 of which we didn't even see get announced) with it. But preorders were almost impossible to do as the lower bundles were starting to disappear before our eyes.
