musicboy
Yesterday, I finally played a racing sim, called F1 World Grand Prix 2, on dreamcast/reicast. And "Holy beans burgers, this game is really good!" Like really super good! Guess I was right, all along. It's now in my list, of top favourite racing sim games. And I highly recommend to anyone, to play it or the original game, which got more respect, than it's sequel. Now I gotta play, the famous, original F1 World Grand Prix 1, which got way more respect, than part 2, which is the one I played. Mark from Classic Game Room, N64 and dreamcast fans etc were right. This racing sim game series, is really super amazing. Edited April 3, 2019 by musicboy
Guest
I just saw a video review of "F1 World Grand Prix" for the Dreamcast. It's cool because they have the profiles of the drivers and their information, including their marital status, but they did not include this on the second game, which is a disgrace. They certainly made a mistake on that aspect, shameful. Edited April 4, 2019 by MoraMoria

The strange thing is, when I played F1 World Grand Prix 2 last week, the drivers bio/profiles and martial status, were in the game. Unless there was some other profile thingy, in the first, more famous F1 World Grand Prix game, that I don't know of, that was for some strange reason excluded, when they made the 2nd game. I think that's why, I'm so eager to play the first game. Because that game got alot of respect, from gamers back then, even moreso than the second game. Even the N64 version of the first game, was well recieved and respected too. And that's what I find really interesting. musicboy
So I played Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing, for the 2nd time a few hours ago. It's a mix of sim and arcadey style motobike racing, and it's alot of fun. The motobikes handle super smoothly, like literally super smooth. I wonder if motobikes, are really that easy to control, in real life? Lol! And I even raced through the three default stages. I will admit, the beach stage is really, amazingly nice. I'm gonna play the tournament modes in a while, and see how well I do. Hopefully, I unlock some new motobikes, costumes and other cool stuff. musicboy
Okay. So I beat a novice race cup and I unlocked a new motobike and two new stages, in the game. Some gamers, claim this game is easy. I can't fully agree. Because even on easy/novice, the opponent motobikers, easily pass you out to often, even when you're far ahead of them. I think they have magic super bikes. I'm having trouble with the 2nd novice cup race. It's just 3 races, but dang, those opponent motobikers, literally butt me off the track, a few times, whenever I was in first place. That sucks. Also, that check point timer thing, is annoying. Leave that lameness, for sega arcade racing games, in the arcade. Lol! On another note, Grand Turismo 3 on PS2, is a nice racing sim. But are the cars in that game, supposed to be so slow? Lol! Guest
If you want fast vehicles, try playing: "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing". These artifacts can surpass the speed of light, by several septillion times, in reverse. The down side, is that I don't think the game qualifies as a 'competitive-racing' one, mostly because of the lack of programming in it. musicboy
@MoraMoria Lol! Big Rigs kinda reminds me, of the Grand Theft Auto games. Edited April 15, 2019 by musicboy
Guest
@musicboy Yes, it does kind of remind me of one of the "GTA: Liberty City" games, because I vaguely remember assaulting trucks near the gas station, in order to sink the neighbourhood in flames, I'd assume. So, I agree to some extent with your comment.
musicboy
Sega's classic dreamcast racer, Daytona USA, is a really good racing game. After playing though alot of races, I can definitely understand, why it has gotten, so much respect from gamers, all of these years. And the sound effects in that game, make you really think, you are at a real car racing stadium. I still have, alot of cars to unlock. I highly recommend it to anyone, to play it. musicboy
Monaco Grand Prix from Ubisoft. Released on the dreamcast. Some reviewers say, the game is a disappointment, but still recommend it, as a great racing game to play. Now that is interesting. But I understand, where they are coming from. I agree the graphics in that game, could have been, like way better. More importantly, the controls. One thing I must say, is that Ubisoft should have put more time and effort, in their games back then. That was one of the things, that always kinda annoyed gamers, with Ubisoft games. Great ideas, but they strangely always seem to fall short, with either graphics, controls, or the gameplay. But at least their games, are still fun though. I'll play Monaco Grand Prix, one of these days. Hopefully, I could get a physical copy of this game, when I get some more change. Wow! So there is a rare online edition too. Now that is cool. musicboy
F1 World Grand Prix 2 has some nice race courses. I love the Italy course. That's the course I use, for training. When you select a course, the game has a mode, where they teach you tips, on how to drive and what strategies to use, to turn some of the corners, on the particular course that you have selected. That's a pretty neat feature. Apparently, the actual real life F1 drivers, were the ones who supplied the tips, used in that game mode. Wooah! musicboy
The Indy 500 arcade car racing game, is really fun. I remember playing it and even X-men vs. Street Fighter, many years ago after school. The music, loud car engine sounds and speed, made you feel like you were in a real race. Wow! I haven't played that car racing game, in over a decade. Lol! Edited April 24, 2019 by musicboy
musicboy
I'm gonna check out some more racing games soon. Okay. I see that Monaco Grand Prix 2 for the dreamcast, has been brought back online, for a while now. That is cool. But finding a physicaI copy of that game, is amazingly super hard. And for some strange reason, Ubisoft decided to make a super limited handful, of PAL and Japanese copies, of the online version. That's so lame Ubisoft. Guest
I just thought of a game that I played at some point, on 'PC'. It was "Starsky & Hutch", and it's a miracle that I remember the name, because I played it while really young.
musicboy
@MoraMoria I think that was a tv series or a movie, back in my parents days. Wow! It's a vehicle combat game. Interesting.
musicboy
4 Wheel Thunder is great arcadey style racing! Bouncy big monster trucks, lots of off road vehicles, and lots of stuff to unlock. And boost power to make you go super fast. I'm really loving the big outdoor race courses. And Corsica daylight is a really cool looking track, with nice castle scenery and stuff. I definitely recommend playing it. musicboy
I've been playing alot of F1 World Grand Prix II, for the past few days now. And going through the race course tutorials mode. Wooah! There are so many. Lol! By the time I'm done here, I'll hopefully be an expert racer, in this game. musicboy
A racing game that is brought up alot, is Speed Devils by Ubisoft. I've never played it, but I heard that the first Speed Devils game, despite being a bit over rated, was actually more fun, and had more content and cool stuff to do and unlock. The Speed Devils online version that came afterwards, had less content, with believe it or not, downgraded graphics and stuff. But made up for it with online play. And yeah, I'm also not a fan, of the cheesy, scary overedgy face in the logo. I think I'll check it out, one of these days, moreso the first game. musicboy
I've been watching some review/playthrough vids, of Gear Club 2 on the nintendo switch. Some gamers say the game is crap, but others say the game is actually good. Personally, I find that the game looks cool. And I like the snow mountain stage alot. musicboy
So I took a rest, off of racing sim games for a while, and started playing San Francisco Rush 2049, sometime last week. And wooah! That game is alot of fun. But unfortunately, the AI cars are tough to beat, even on easy mode. But despite that, it's still alot of fun. I suggest you guys check it out, whenever you guys have time. It's a really cool game. Edited August 1, 2019 by musicboy
