What game emulators, do you use on your PC, Mac, Linux, Android, ipad etc?

The ones I use, on my windows 7 laptop, are NullDC and FBA.

Nulldc is a dreamcast emulator.

FBA aka Final Burn Alpha, plays alot of nice retro arcade games. Like SF2 Hyper Fighting and SF2 Championship Edition etc.

Snes9x is a nice snes emulator, that I use on my android tablet.

I've used "ZSNES" for the "Super Nintendo Entertainment System"; "DeSmuMe" for the "Nintendo DS"; "VisualBoyAdvance" for the "Game Boy"; "MAME", (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator), for 'Arcade' and "PCSX2" for the "Playstation 2".

Although I barely play videogames regularly now, if I do it's on rare occasions.

I remember that the "VisualBoyAdvance" for 'GBA' had a fast-forward command, that would make 'farming/leveling up' way easier, specially for 'RPGs'. Just because of that, I would normally choose to play such games on the emulator instead of playing them on the original console.

And if I'm not mistaken, there was another 'GBA' emulator called "VBALink" that would allow connecting two games at the same time, as if you were using the 'GBA link cable'. Specially useful for 'Pokémon' games, I think.

Had an Ouya for a while and loaded a bunch of emulators on that. Kinda weird how you could directly download them from the platforms official online store. Very illegal.

Used to use a lot of my PC as a kid, mostly to play a lot of weeb Dragon Ball Z fighting games, but now I'd sooner get myself a clone console and try and buy a physical cartridge or disc. Wouldn't recommend the latter. Nothing hurts more than buying a cheap job lot of Sega Saturn games to discover a good 75% are fucked beyond belief.

Emulators for PC:

PCSX2, a playstation 2 emulator with great support. Some tweaking required to get games looking nice in HD, however.

RPCS3, the only playstation 3 emulator with any support. Compatibility is okay, major games like persona 5 are playable with minor bugs. Requires a beefy CPU.

Dolphin, a gamecube and wii emulator. Most games playable.

Emulators for android:

My boy, a gameboy emulator. Quite simple and works with every game that I have tried.

PPSSPP gold, compatible with most games I've tried.

Both of the above cost money but if you don't want to pay you can find the most recent versions on third party sites.

Notable mentions:

Geforce NOW, not an emulator but a streaming service. If you have good enough internet you can stream games on your phone/tablet, and if you have a weaker PC it can be worth it there too. 4.99 per month with a 90 day free trial currently.

Recent updates have made the emulator much more optimized, so it may be worth trying bully again. I've not tried it personally however san andreas works perfectly for me, and it's a much larger game.

I haven't tried pokemon mystery dungeon but I did download a ROM of it for GBA so I will get around to it soon.

I use flycast in retroarch, for playing dreamcast games, that I don't have yet. Some of the games play at good speed. But a bunch of them lag alot.

I use DuckStation or a modded PS3 for PlayStation emulation. PCSX2 for PlayStation 2 emulation. PPSSPP or a modded PS3 (yes, really) for PlayStation Portable emulation. Actual PS3 hardware for PlayStation 3 emulation. And no way to run PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, or PlayStation 5 games.

I use Mesen for NES (Famicom Disk System) emulation. mGBA for Game Boy emulation. Snes9x for SNES (Satellaview) emulation. Currently no interest in Virtual Boy games. Currently no interest in Nintendo 64 (64DD) games. mGBA for Game Boy Advance emulation. Dolphin for GameCube emulation. melonDS for Nintendo DS emulation. Dolphin for Wii emulation. melonDS for Nintendo DSi emulation. Citra for Nintendo 3DS emulation. Cemu for Wii U emulation. And lastly, Ryujinx for Nintendo Switch emulation.

Still, I don't use emulators for Virtual Boy, Nintendo 64 (64DD), PS3, PS Vita, PS4, or PS5. The reason for Virtual Boy is because I just don't care right now, but might emulate it in the future. 64DD is a combination of don't care right now and too complicated and messy to set everything up correctly. The reason I don't use an emulator for PS3 is because I have a PS3, and you can't emulate the PS3 unless you have Intel's supercomputer processors. The reason for PS Vita, PS4, and PS5 is due to a complete lack of usable emulators right now. I have a little bit of hope for PS Vita emulation in the near future, but it may take longer for it to be usable.

I completely glossed over Pokémon Mini, but that hardly even counts as anything, even Nintendo never cared about it.

While I'm at it, I actually have came up with a list of consoles I cannot emulate that I am interested in. They cannot be emulated due to a few reasons. I will go over these consoles right now.

I really am interested in a few Dreamcast games like the remaster of the PlayStation Spiderman game and Lack of Love. Unfortunately, only Android users can emulate Dreamcast games, as Dreamcast emulators only barely work on them due to the emulators being made for Android first then hastily ported to other OSes. These emulators just don't work on Windows, I find that they will crash despite doing the same instructions to get them up and running. So if I want to play Dreamcast games, I will either need a good Android device or actual Dreamcast hardware.

Next is the Xbox. Despite the fact that the Xbox is basically a PeeCee, you basically need actual Xbox hardware to run Xbox games. There aren't any true Xbox emulators yet, but there are Xbox hypervisors. Unfortunately, these Xbox hypervisors just don't work. Cxbx-reloaded basically fails to run most games. Some either don't work at all or have major glitches that make them unplayable. xemu is showing promise, but you need to set up a virtual disk image, which requires putting files on a FATX formatted drive, which I don't know how to do yet.

Xbox 360 emulation is obviously far from usable, while a few games work in Xenia. Most do not, so you will basically need actual hardware to run the games, especially the Kinect games. Considering that I actually do have an Xbox 360 right now, I guess it isn't a problem until I get some Japan-only Xbox 360 games. In which case, I will need to import an Xbox 360 from Japan just because I can't mod the Xbox 360, it is too difficult!

As for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, Microsoft decided to port most of their games for these consoles to PeeCee, so I have no reason to use actual hardware.

And you are right about how dreamcast emulators, don't work too well in windows and crash unexpectedly, unless you have an android device. But it sometimes happens on android too. And yeah, I always found it strange, that Xbox emulation is still way behind. You would expect that the Xbox consoles, that are all based on PC architecture, would be the first in line to be the easiest to emulate, but yet it is kind of difficult to do so. It is so confusing sometimes.

Yeah, that is a better idea. It is a great system too.

Just don't buy games on stinky amazon or ebay, until the prices go down to about $50 again. Know what, avoid ebay. Lol!

Oh yeah, I can play games on a smartphone too! For NES (Famicom Disk System), I use Nostalgia.NES. For Game Boy, I use mGBA. For SNES (Satelaview), I use Snes9x EX+. Nothing for N64 yet as nothing on Android can run the 64DD. For Pokémon Mini, I don't bother, it's best left forgotten. For Game Boy Advance, I use mGBA. For GameCube, I use Dolphin emulator, as modern smartphones can run it alright. For Nintendo DS, I use melonDS. For Wii, I use Dolphin. For Nintendo DSi, I use melonDS. For Nintendo 3DS, I use Citra. For Nintendo Switch, well my phone is just not quite powerful enough to try the Shield Hypervisor known as Egg NS.

For PlayStation, I use DuckStation. Nothing for PlayStation 2 emulation yet, as Play! is only recommended for games that require a 13th gen CORE i9 processor to run in PCSX2. There isn't a PCSX2-reARMed yet, there might be in the (near) future. For PSP, I use PPSSPP. Of course, as expected, there's no PS3, PS Vita, PS4, or PS5 emulators for Android.

Android smartphones gain the ability to run Dreamcast games in Reicast. Take that gaming PeeCees!

I also forgot to mention that there isn't a Wii U emulator on Android! I don't think there will be one for a while, but Decaf is showing some progress. Maybe when Decaf becomes good, it will get an Android port.

I'm planning on downloading and trying out some more emulators. These days, I'm looking for a good one that plays N64 games, because I want to play a game called Jet Force Gemini, and that game is really cool.
